About the Department

A Legacy of Mathematical Excellence

From foundational teaching to advanced postgraduate research — empowering students to master the language of the universe.

The Mathematics Department of our prestigious college was established in 1966 with an aim to disseminate mathematical knowledge with ethical values, and was upgraded to execute the postgraduate degree programme in 2006.

At the undergraduate level, mathematics is taught as an elective subject to B.Sc. (Non-Medical), B.Sc. (Computer Science), BCA, and is opted by students of B.A. across all years. Furthermore, diverse scientific disciplines incorporate mathematics in their curriculum — including Optimization Techniques in M.Sc. IT, Bioinformatics and Biostatistics in M.Sc. Microbial Technology, and Mathematics in B.Sc. Biotechnology (Honours).

The postgraduate degree programme in mathematics is designed to impart rigorous mathematical training across at least twenty courses. Effective teaching-learning techniques are adopted by a well-qualified, disciplined and dedicated faculty to prepare students competent enough to crack national-level examinations.

The department gratefully acknowledges the financial support through RUSA for the successful accomplishment of academic tasks, including UGC-NET preparatory classes, remedial classes, and celebrations of National Mathematics Day.
