National Skill Qualifications Framework

Skill · Certify · Empower

Under University Grants Commission (UGC) · Govt. of India

Established at College June 2020

About NSQF

A nationally integrated, competency-based framework empowering students to pair academic learning with industry-ready skills.

The National Skill Qualifications Framework (NSQF) is a nationally integrated education and competency-based framework under the UGC that enables candidates to acquire desired competency levels. Built on an outcome-based approach, it provides multiple pathways for linking one level of learning to another higher level — promoting lifelong learning and skill development. The minimum eligibility for these courses is 10+2.
NSQF was set up at the College in June 2020 to promote lifelong learning and skill development to meet market requirements. The College applied for 4 skill-based courses — Entrepreneurship, Media & Entertainment, IT Sector, and Journalism & Mass Communication — and received UGC approval for all four.
In session 2020-21, the One-Year Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication was introduced on a self-finance basis, affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh. The NSQF Office facilitates the smooth running of the Diploma, communicates regularly with UGC and the affiliating University, and organises curriculum-linked activities including interactions with media personalities.
