About MEHRAMAT

A society devoted to the welfare of the community — bringing forward voluntary blood donors and making blood easily accessible to those in need.

In keeping with the Institutional Distinctiveness of Seva and selfless service, Sri Guru Gobind Singh College has taken an initiative which is exclusively devoted for the welfare of the society. Taking inspiration from the Bani of sacred Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji:
In the midst of this world, do seva — and you shall be given a place of honour in the court of the Almighty. — Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 25
MEHRAMAT is a society aiming to serve the needy by bringing forward voluntary donors, thus making blood easily accessible. Blood donation is an act of kindness — the greatest way to serve humanity and to seek pleasure from the Almighty by saving human lives through facilitating blood transfusion.

The society aims to serve the needy, as the scarcity and unavailability of blood has taken away numerous lives. Being a part of the medical city, the area of operation is the tricity — Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. The helpline number and additional information is regularly updated on the College's website.

Our Objectives

Seven guiding principles that shape every effort of the MEHRAMAT society.

1

To provide a 24-hour helpline number for the needy seeking support and information.

2

To serve the utmost cause of humanity and provide an easy access for blood availability and transfusion.

3

To provide a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in the community.

4

Motivate and promote voluntary blood donation through education and promotion campaigns.

5

To maintain a permanent, well-indexed record of voluntary blood donors.

6

Educating the community on the beneficial aspects of blood donation and the harmful effects of collecting blood from paid donors.
