Gender Champions Club

Equality · Dignity · Respect

Joint Initiative of Ministry of Women & Child Development & Ministry of Education

About the Club

Building a generation of leaders committed to gender equality, rooted in the values of our institution.

In order to promote gender equality — guaranteed by Article 15 of the Indian Constitution — the Government of India started the Gender Champions Club as a joint initiative of the Ministry of Women & Child Development and the Ministry of Education, to enhance outreach and create an environment that fosters equal treatment across the country.
The insignia of the College carries the motto "All mankind are one", reflecting the values of Equality enshrined in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26 — affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh — has constituted the Gender Champions Club to sensitise the youth towards gender equality. The Club facilitates students to learn and impart knowledge on gender equality, contributing to the College's vision of holistic student development for the nation's better future.

Vision & Objective

The guiding ideas behind every Club initiative.

Vision

Gender Champions are envisaged as responsible leaders who will facilitate an enabling environment within the College campus where girls are treated with dignity and respect. They will strengthen the potential of youth to advocate for gender equality and monitor progress towards gender justice.

Objective

The broad mandate of a Gender Champion is to provide an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to understanding the social and cultural constructions of gender that shape the experiences of women and men in society — making young boys and girls gender-sensitive and creating positive social norms that value girls and their rights.
